Abrasion testing

Yarn on yarn abrasion testing is fundamental to understanding a major wear mechnism in ropes. This test is used to help develop better yarn and rope finishes and it is an important quality check on supplied yarn.

• Yarns and Cords (max 10mm dia.)
• Wet and Dry Testing
• Larger diameter cords/ropes can, where appropriate, be tested on the 100 kN or 200 kN test machines.

External yarn abrasion testing helps determine the performance of a rope when rubbing on abrasive surfaces. It is an inexpensive way of selecting the best material for braided rope jackets.
